Peony's mother. Once a very hopeful woman, Magnolia has become very jaded, stressed and cynical. She hooked up with a man she knew from her work years ago, late into their relationship she had Peony and Magnolia was elated to have a daughter. A few years later her husband left her and that left her deeply hurt. Since then, she's been terrified to form close bonds. She still lives with her daughter, though more out of a sense of obligation than genuine care. Over time as Peony has grown Magnolia feels even more disdain for her life and self loathing. She feels obligated to a closer relationship with her daughter for housing her and giving her life, but her fear of connection and narcissism keep her from that. Magnolia's prone to depressive episodes that Peony has to awkwardly sit though.

She works at an unremarkable office job and has very traditional values. She's the type to get mad at Peony for showing too much shoulder >.>. She's happy to dump Peony onto Violet and Glimmer for some alone time. Though, she'd be lying if she didn't admit she envies the connection Peony has made with Violet and Glimmer.
